[24170] Agnes is listed as a child of William and Sybil in the Cahill Family web site in Ancestry World Tree by Steve Davis (stephenp.davis@hp.com) in 2004 and is not verified. CP Vol I, p. 418 confirms Faris but the CP Corrigenda et Addenda volume, XIV, p. 64, adds that Agnes seems unlikely to have been the daughter of William, Seigneur de Grandison.
[1681] Dirk I is son or grandson of Haghen, Count of Aquitaine (uncle of Charles the Bald of France and son of Walter, Count of Teisterbant). Encyclopaedia Britannica (1956; 11:668) states that the county was founded by "Rorik, of Norman origin, ...in 862. His successor Gerulf, to whom the German king Arnulf in 889 granted some possessions and rights in the region between the Rhine and Swithardeshaga..., may be considered the first count of Holland, notwithstanding the doubt that may be felt about his being the father of Dirk I, whom tradition long held to be the first count." http://www.royalancestorscollins.com/italy.htm names him Theodoric I, 1st Count of Holland and Zealand, Lord of Friesland. http://www.geerts.com/holland/holland-1.htm offers: "In 922 Charles the Simple gave in full possession to a Count in Frisia, Dirk (a shortened form of Diederic, Latin Theodoricus), the church of Egmont with all that belonged to it from Swithardeshage to Kinhem. This man, usually known as Dirk I, died about 939 and was succeeded by his son of the same name. Dirk (Diederic) of West Friesland Count of Holland born about 900 Noordwijk-Binnen, died 6 October 939, buried Egmond-Binnen, married with Geva (Gerberge) Duchess of Friesland Countess of Holland, born 879 Egmond-Binnen, died 11 January 911 Egmond-Binnen."
