Charles and Sarah had other children, including Orrilla (third daughter) who married Joseph Ellis Barrett, M.D., of Wooster, OH. Ellis Piper is named for him. Dr. Barrett served as Surgeon with the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry; he delivered both of his wife's nephews, David Ellis Piper and Randall Gordon Piper. Dr. Barrett's rank was Major in the U. S. Army.
"History of Wayne Co., OH," by Ben Douglass (Wooster: 1874), p. 620, reports that Charles "was raised on the farm with his father, and remained with him until he was 21 years of age. He made a trip to Missouri, remaining there about 15 months, when he returned, and, October 8, 1840, married Sarah Milbourn, of East Union township. In 1852 he removed to the farm on which he now [1874] lives. He has nine children. ...Mr. Boydston is a conscientious, earnest man, whose integrity is unimpeached and whose life and exampe are worthy of imitation."
The 1860 federal census of East Union Twp., Wayne Co., OH lists Charles (age 43, farmer) and wife Sarah (age 36) with children Sephrona [sic] (18, a teacher), Emeline (16), Horace (12), Delinda [sic] (10, Olula [sic] (14), Emily (8), Warren (6) and Mary (4). The 1880 census of the same twp. lists Charles and wife Sarah, and only one child, Delinda (age 30), in their household.
David Hartmannwrote 15 Sept 1977: "Charles Boydston house located on the South side of US 30, 1200 feet East of the intersection of Twp. Road 142 and US 30. It is an interesting frame house in the Victorian Italianate Style with fleur de lys carved over the second story front windows. Charles Boydston builder of the house circa 1865 married Sarah Milbourn another of Andrew Milbourn's sisters."
The "Wooster (Ohio) Republican" 3 August 1871 printed an announcement: "Please announce the name of Charles Boydston, of East Union Township as a candidate for County Commissioner, and oblige. - Friends of Reform". This newspaper 16 February 1871 printed a "recommendation" dated 14 February 1871 at East Union for Mr. S. C. Orr who taught school in the township, signed by Charles Boydston and Josiah Milbourn, among others. Charles is a member of the Republican Party Central Committee in Wayne Co. according to the primary election notice in this newspaper 20 August 1857, and in its 3 Aug 1871 issue, p. 3, is advertized as a candidate for County Commissioner by the "Friends of Reform". This newspaper also published winners in the county fair ("Agricultural Society" Exhibition): 29 Oct 1863 - Mrs. Charles Boydston second best in "Domestic Manufactures" for 5 yards of "barred flannel" and best for one poung of stocking yarn; 1 Nov 1866 - Charles Boydston best in show for premium quince jelly and second for grapes, Concord premium; 7 Oct 1869 - Mrs. Charles Boydston second for pears, and daughter Emma best in needle work for a darned tidy and also for "best chemise, yoke and sleeve crochet," and daughter Dell [sic] "best embroidered night dress"; 20 Oct 1870 - Charles Boydston had the best Holstine heifer, 2 years old.
The "Mansfield (Ohio) News" 6 April 1910 printed this announcement: "Charles Boydston, one of the most aged residents of Wayne county, died at his home on the state road, east of Wooster, Tuesday morning, after a long illness from rheumatism. His age was 93 years." Charles' death certificate states he d. of "senile gangrene". Charles' will and estate papers are in the probate case file No. 13172 in Wayne Co., OH court house - final distribution was filed 11 May 1912.

Notes: Andrew Jackson Morgrage was a volunteer soldier in the Rebellion and was a prisoner in Libby Prison at Belle Isle, for several months during the war in 1861. He was a Private in Company K, 16th Regiment ME Infantry. This was better known as The War Between The States. Richard and Madge Morgrage had several historical documents and also a register of enlistment of the 16th Regiment Company K, that hung in their den. When Madge died she donated these items to the Castine ME Museum in Castine, ME as Historical Documents. There was also a family bible donated and squad stew pots carried by Andrew as a soldier. Madge gave one small family bible to Margaret Jill Goode and (I as writer of this information) still have the family bible, and one day will pass it to my daughter Amanda Dae Frederick Harrison. In a book that I (Jill) have I have several copies of documents that were in bible donated to Castine Museum. I copied them back in about 1979 when my brother died and I was originally compiling information.(so state 9-18-1999)
I have copy of Resolution dated 1912 of the Deaths of military personnel from Company's A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and K. A true copy, attested by Chas. O. Wadsworth, Secretary 16th ME Regimental Associates.
