[19627] Shubael is ancestor of the Loyalist Gorhams of the St. John River Valley in New Brunswick, Canada; he sailed under Col. John March in the 1707 expedition against Port Royal as an Ensign in the Company of Capt. Caleb Williamson, and he was Colonel of the 7th Massachusetts regiment in 1744. Shubael was killed during the siege of Louisburg in 1745. He was born July 9, 1902, son of George and Daisy (Gray) Snowman. He was a boatbuilder by trade and was a member of Marine Lodge of Masons, Deer Isle, and of the Saunders Manorial Church at Little Deer Isle. He is survived by his wife, Helen; a stepson, Llewellyn Eaton of Stonington; one brother, Clyde Snowman of Little Deer Isle; two sisters, Mrs. Muriel Weed of Old Lyme, Conn. and Mrs. Wilma Seano of Springfield, Mass.; also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews."
