She was born in Grindstone, Maine, on December 14, 1928, a daughter of Dean and Wauneta (Hodgkins) Chase. She fondly remembered her experiences while growing up at the Rice Farm and the woodsmen her mother fed there daily. At the age of 15, she left Millinocket to attend Shaw School of Business (Husson) and returned to Millinocket upon graduation. In 1950, she married Russell Bailey and raised their family in Millinocket. Mary worked for the Great Northern Paper Company for 27 years. After retirement, Mary and Russ moved to Yarmouth and, later, she spent many years in Scarborough with her daughter and grandson. Mary loved spending time with her family, especially if it involved going for a ride and dining at one of her secret spots along the Maine coast. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Russell, who passed away in 1995. She also was predeceased by her sister, Hope; and three brothers, Dean, Jack, and Hilton (Budd). She will be greatly missed by her children, Russell Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Collierville, TN, Roger and his wife, Judy, of Destin, FL, and Nancy of Scarborough; five grandchildren, Aaron, David, Ben, Erin, and Sam; two great-grandchildren, River and Holden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also a very special friend and sister-in-law, Cynthia Chase, of Scarborough, whom Mom affectionately called her 'sister.'"

"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 28 September 2023: "Brooklin - Carlton C. Gray Sr. passed away on Sept. 26, 2023, at home in Brooklin. He was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Brooksville, the first-born son of Walter C. and Margaret (Segar) Gray. The family soon moved to Brooklin, where Carlton lived nearly his entire life. He graduated from Brooklin High School in 1950 along with his younger brother Belford. Soon after high school, Carlton married Evelyn M. Ryder of Ellsworth. Together, they raised four sons. Carlton worked as a carpenter and builder, first with his father, and later with youngest son, Jerry. Carlton was active in the community, coaching Little League baseball, serving on the Brooklin Volunteer Fire Department, and was a past member of the Brooklin Oddfellow's Lodge. Carlton and Evelyn enjoyed square dancing and made many friends around eastern Maine and Canada. They also enjoyed camping with family and friends, often combining the camping trips with square dancing events. Evelyn passed in 1994 after a 13-year battle with breast cancer. Years later, Carlton reconnected with Roberta Staples Allen, a high school classmate, and they maintained a special relationship until Carlton's death. Known for his memory of Brooklin history, Carlton donated many photographs and documents to the Brooklin Keeping Society. Carlton was predeceased by his parents, wife Evelyn, brother Belford, granddaughter Lily, and grandson Christopher. Carlton is survived by his four sons, Carlton Jr. and wife Paige of Dudley, N.C., Scott, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Stuart and wife Laura of East Blue Hill, and Jerry and wife Laurie of Brooklin. Carlton is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and by dear friend, Elizabeth Hutchins. Carlton's most cherished relationships include Roberta Allen and grandson Josh Gray."
Carlton and the family have been grateful for the loving care provided by Scott and Kathy Holden, and by Susan Gray. The family also thanks the staff of Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital and of Northern Light Hospice for the compassionate and professional care they provided. Carlton especially enjoyed the compassionate care and friendship of Northern Light Hospice worker Nancy, who came nearly every day and had a special bond with Carlton.

He was born in Penobscot Jan. 11, 1916, the son of Leon L. and Lucy (Patten) Leach. He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II and worked as a siding contractor. He is survived by a daughter, Doreen Leach of Hudson; a son, Clyde of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Helen Stanley of Brewer, Sibyl Leach of Bangor and Mary Anderson of Oxbow; a special granddaughter, Bobbie; two other grandchildren and their children. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Shirley; a brother, Clyde; and a sister, Maybelle."
[30077] In 2010 "Descendants of Daniel Poore" at http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/c/u/r/Susan-C-Curtiss/GENE10-0001.html offers: "Although we have no factual data to confirm it, Daniel Poore may have been the father of John, Nicholas, Alice, Samuel, Daniel and Thomas Poore. Nicholas is often found as Nickolas in various accounts. There is a lack of birth, marriage and death records for Daniel Poore. Family tradition states that he was born at (or near) Salisbury, Wiltshire in 1590. The Poore estates at Amesbury and Durrington represented the center of operations for this large family. By 1590, the Poores had land holdings all along the River Avon and east into the Andover and Wallops area of Hampshire. Within the city of Salisbury, the Poores occupied properties at St. Martins Parish and Edmunds Church district. These parishes were also the urban locations for many of the related Hampshire families, including Gore, Reade, Singer, Noyes and Parker. Two couples have been isolated who were married in the right time frame and in the right geographical area to have been Daniel's parents. Both married in Salisbury were: Thomas Poore and Alice Yearp, married at Edmunds Church on May 2, 1581. John Poore and Dorothy Reade, married at St. Martins Parish on October 19, 1584. All of Daniel's children were reported born at Trowbridge, Wiltshire, but it is probable that he maintained close family ties with the Salisbury, Amesbury and Hampshire Poores. It appears that Daniel's family was located back within the Poore localities of eastern Wiltshire or western Hampshire when the migrations to Massachusetts began in the 1630's."

He is mentioned as a 'saddler;' but like all his fellow pioneers he must have been largely occupied in the clearing and cultivation of his land, and in documents relative to the division of his property, made soon after his death, he is styled 'gentleman.' He is said to have removed to Kingston, N. H., in 1738, but the places of birth of his children suggest that for some years it may have been uncertain in which of the two neighboring settlements, Salisbury and Kingston, he was a resident. And even after his removal to New Ipswich, which reliable and well supported tradition locates at least as early as 1745, a deed given him by his near neighbor, Benjamin Hoar, names him as being of Kingston. But it seems certain that he was the third, possibly the fourth settler in New Ipswich, his first home being at the southern end of VI : 1, S. R., on the short piece of the old country road extending downward from the road connecting Bank Village with the Congregational church to the road along the river. Perhaps the vestiges of a cellar still visible there mark the place of that early abode. He later removed to II : 1, S. R., where the probable position of his well on the north side of the abandoned road is still discernible. He is supposed to have won his title of captain by service in the French and Indian wars, and he seems to have commanded the first military company formed in New Ipswich. He was the only inhabitant remaining unmoved during the general withdrawal to Townsend in 1748. He was elected town clerk and also first selectman at the first town meeting after the incorporation of the town. Although only in his sixty-fifth year at the time of his death he is said to have been the oldest person in the town.
