A file in GenServ states Adam "married 27 May 1837, Judith Black, born 6 Oct 1802 at Sedgwick, Maine, died 20 Jun 1886, buried in Castine Village Cemetery, daughter of Samuel Black and Rebecca Annis." Find A Grave memorial 101758386 states his wife was Judith Staples (1802-1886).

She was born in Bangor Aug. 21, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Coombs) Wardwell. Mrs. Bemis attended Penobscot and Castine schools. She cooked in several restaurants including Millett's Restaurant on Verona. She retired from Penobscot Nursing Home as a CNA after several years of service. She is survived by five children, Frances and her husband Robert Gerry of Winterport, Dorothy and her husband Joseph Dennis of Orland, William Bemis of Portland, Ronald and his wife Bonnie Bemis of Bucksport, Candice and her husband David Witham of Bucksport; three sisters, Mrs. Ormand (Margaret) Bowden of Castine, Mrs Barbara Pollen of Massachusetts and Mrs Paul (Marjorie) Smith of Monroe; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Bemis, on July 16, 1990."
