"The Courier [Waterloo, Iowa], 14 February 1938, " p. 3: "Jacob Benjamin Meyer, 68, retired Orange township farmer, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at his home at 612 La Porte road, where he had been operating an acreage. Death resulted from arteriosclerosis. The son of Jacob and Rose Meyer, he was born Jan. 2, 1870, on a farm in the area that now is Cedar Heights. He married Miss Minnie Picken, March 2, 1898, in Waterloo. For years they operated a farm in Orange township. He was a member of the Lutheran church, but inWaterloo had attended the First Methodist church. Surviving besides the widow are four daughters, Miss Florence E. Meyer, Oakdale, la.; Mrs. Neva Heichel, Des Moines; Mrs. Eva Hanson, Aurora, Colo., and Mrs. Wilma Ziegler, 220 Linwood avenue; two sons, Harvey J. Meyer of Detroit, Mich., and Oliver W. Meyer, Garden Grove, la.; four sisters, Mrs. Lydia Lehman, Mrs. Anna Zille and Miss Louise Meyer, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Emma Harris, residing in Texas; two brothers, George Meyer, Los Angeles, and Henry Meyer, Harrold. S. D., and three grandsons. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p. m Tuesday in Kearns Garden chapel, with Dr. Will Bowers, pastor of first Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery."
