[3346] The first Earl of Warwick was created early in the reign of King William II and was Henry de Newburgh (d. 1123), a baron of the Norman exchequer who spent most of his time in Normandy. His grant as earl brought him the large estates of the Saxon leader Thurkill of Arden in Warwickshire. William de Beauchamp was 5th Baron Beauchamp of Elmley Castle.
