[42326] This person is from the unverified Roberts Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2017. Find A Grave Memorial 111327329 offers: "Mary Huggins, the 5th of nine children of John and Mary [née Carruth] Huggins, was born in Ballymartin Parish, Antrim County, Ireland in 1722. Her family were Scotch Presbyterians; who came to America aboard the 'Deligance of Glasgow' which landed in Philadelphia between 30 January 1729 and 22 September 1729. They were joined by her mother's brothers, Adam, Alexander and Walter Carruth. After living in the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania area for a number years, Mary's family emigrated south and settled first in Rowan County, North Carolina. Here Mary met and married John Robert Sloan; with whom she had ten known children. Mary and John Sloan later moved to the headwaters of Coddle Creek in Iredell County, North Carolina to raise their family and John was made Constable of the county. Mary and John Robert Sloan were in the first congregation at her brother's home, when Rev. Hugh McAden preached his first sermon to what he call the 'Coddle Creek congregation' in 1752. This early congregation later became charter members of Coddle Creek A.R.P. church. Mary Huggins Sloan departed this life on the 13th day of March 1787 at the age of 65 years old. She was laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery at Coddle Creek A.R.P. where she had worshiped for over 35 years."
