K, 149th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 24, 1865."

[46798] "The Perry County Democrat [New Bloomfield, PA], 15 Apil 1891," p. 3: "Mrs. Sarah Bernheisel, widow of Jacob Bernheisel, died at the residence of her son, William Bernheisel, at Green Park on Sunday. She had not been in good health for some time past, owing to her advanced years, and on Tuesday of last week she contracted a severe cold, which prostrated her. About one o'clock on Sunday morning she fell asleep and a few moments later her spirit peacefully passed away. She was aged 89 years and 6 days. Mrs. Bernheisel's maiden name was Sheibley and she was a sister of Mr. William Sheibley, of Elllottsburg, who is 91 years of age. Her husband has been dead for the past eighteen years. She was the mother of ten children, nine of whom survive her - five daughters and four sons - Mrs. Mary Swartz, of this place, being one of tbe daughters. Mrs. Bernheisel was kind and true Christian lady and her death is mourned by a large circle of relatives and acquaintances."
