[4630] Mark Lozer's "Surnames of Fulton County Ohio and Before" on http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com in 2008 states she is wife of the John b. 13 Aug 1826 and proves further information (not verified). No doubt the wife, Catharine, age 50, in the household of Michael Caul (farmer, age 63) in the 1880 census of Dover, Fulton Co., OH, which lists the only other member of the household as Ida Jewel, age 12, daughter. Catherine is probably the person of this name shown as daughter of David Showalter and Margaret Likes in the LDS Church's unverified IGI file. An unverified tree in Ancestry.com proposes that Catherine is daughter of David Weltmer Showalter (b. 10 July 1804 in Mount Pleasant Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA, d. in 1860 in Defiance Co., OH) and Margaret Likes (b. in 1810 in Somerset Co., PA, d. in 1846 in Wayne Co., OH, m. 30 August 1827 in Wayne Co., OH) - documentation is needed.

The term described the minstrels who originally performed for noble families and later referred to the men who called out the Watch (hour) and performed music to entertain the passers-by. All the Waites of England and Wales are believed to be descendants of Ricardus Le Wayte of the County of Warwick, who was Escheater of the counties of Berkshire, Wilts, Oxford, Bedford, and Bucks in 1315. Ricardus was a direct descendant of Ralf de Waiet, whose wife was Emma, sister of Roger, Earl of Hereford, and cousin of William the Conqueror. In 1075 A.D., William presented the Earldom, city and castle of Norwich, England, to Ralf de Waiet on his marriage to Emma."
