[44993] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 5 May 1936, p. 31: "Castine, May 4 - The funeral services of Roger Earl Bartlett, 33, who died at the home of Charles Wardwell, at North Castine, Thursday evening, were in the Congregational church, Saturday afternoon. Rev. Oscar L. Olsen, officiated, and officers of the Felicity lodge F. & A. M., of Bucksport, of which Mr. Bartlett was a member, conducted the committal services, interment being in Castine. Mr. Bartlett was born in Bethel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lindon Bartlett. Besides his parents he leaves two brothers, Harold and Rodney, and his wife, who was Kathleen Wardwell, whom he married June 30th, 1934. He was graduated from Gould Academy in 1920, prepared at the University of New Hampshire and since had been engaged in construction work, for the past four years as superintendent for W. H. Hinman, Inc, of Skowhegan. He has been conncted with several large construction jobs, one of which was the Seaboard Paper Co, at Bucksport. His untimely death came as a great shock to his many friends and family, although he had been In declining health for the past few months. Of sterling character and very efficient in the work he had undertaken. His genial personality and friendliness made a host of friends for him wherever he went and he won the highest respect of his associates."

She had been married nearly 65 years. She was born at Blue Hill, the daughter of John L. and Sarah (Holland) Varnum. Mrs. Gray spent most of her life in Dedham. She was charter member of both New Century Grange, Dedham, and Hancock Pomona Grange. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Walter H. and Elmer J. of Dedham and Herbert C. Gray of Gibsonton, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Eva Bowden of Brewer, Mrs. Mavis Hopkins and Mrs. Mae Lane, both of Dedham; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren."
