[2815] Michael's obituary reports: "He had lived in the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area prior to moving to Gaylord four years ago. He was a local sales manager for the Xerox Agency of Houghton Lake. Mr. Bartecki was a member and elder of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Gaylord. He was an active supporter of St. Mary's School Drama Club and served on the advisory board of Community Mediation Services in Otsego County. Mr. Bartecki was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Lindy; his children, Randi Bartecki of Gaylord, Steven Bartecki of Akron, Ohio, and Mark Barnett and Deb Flynn of Key West, Fla."

Francis Allison that was the culmination of years of attempts that had never gotten fully off the ground. John Thomson had always been in favor of a school for young men. Thus, in 1744 when trustees were chosen for the school, John Thomson was placed on the original board. This school moved when it was taken over by Rev. Alexander McDowell, and was given a charter by New Jersey in 1769 as the Newark Academy. The original charter recognizes the original board including John Thomson. The Newark Academy would eventually become the University of Delaware."
