[55016] "Providence Journal [Providence, Rhode Island]," 4 January 2000: "Jane A Wardwell, 65, of (Point Judith), Narragansett, executive secretary and assistant to the president of United Technologies in Hartford, Conn., before retiring, died Wednesday at South County Hospital. She was the wife of Douglas O. Wardwell . Born in Portland, Maine, a daughter of the late Leroy and Jenny Wardwell , she had been a resident of Connecticut before moving to Narragansett several years ago. She was a graduate of Boston University's School of Practical Arts and Letters, and received a bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University. Mrs. Wardwell had also been a paralegal for Day, Berry & Howard in Hartford, and a secretary to the chief scientist at the United Technologies Research Center of Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks. She was later a human resources supervisor at Otis Elevator Company. As a young woman, she had been a cellist with the Portland Symphony. Mrs. Wardwell was a literacy volunteer with the Washington County Adult Learning Center. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Laurie J. Dragunoff of Hamden, Conn., and Julie A. Saillant of Barkhamstead, Conn.; and a sister, Winnifred Bowen of Georgetown, Texas. A memorial service was held Saturday at the Kingston Congregational Church, Kingstown Road, Kingston."
