[14699] http://www.geneajourney.com/lorain2.html reports Bertram was "of Farnham Royal, Buckinghamshire, England and had Norman de Verdun b abt 1082, d aft 1140, who md Lesceline de Clinton abt 1110 (daughter of Geoffrey de Clinton). Norman and Lesceline had Bertram de Verdun, Sheriff of Leicestershire, who md (1) Maud de Ferrers, and (2) Rohese abt 1153 - with Rohese Bertram had Nicholas de Verdun who m. Clemence de Botiler, daughter of Philip le Boteler and had Rohese de Verdun who m. Theobald le Boteler. Bertram was, at the General Survey, "(stated to have been son of Godfreye, Comte de Verdun, surnamed `le Caplif.') possessed Farnham Royal, in Buckinghamshire, holding the same by grand serjeantry: viz., by the service of providing a glove on the day of the king's coronation for his right hand; and of supporting the monarch's right arm during the same ceremony, so long as he bore the royal sceptre.
