[45806] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 10 February 1996," p. 19: "Hampden - Harry Kenniston Foster, 77, died Feb. 8, 1996 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Orrington Jan. 11, 1919, the son of Bion A. and Katherine (Kingsbury) Foster. Harry had made his home in Hampden since the age of eight and worked as a mechanic at Rawdiffe's Garage for nearly 30 years. In his younger years Harry was a well-liked trolley-car driver and then bus driver for Bangor Hydro. He was a true yankee trader and enjoyed buying and selling anything. He loved having a continuous yard sale (he was the original recycler) and his kind heart and generosity were always evident as a needy person never left his yard sale empty-handed. Harry's friends always knew they could borrow a few dollars from him to get them by. He enjoyed the hard work of cutting and splitting wood and loved traveling to Las Vegas to gamble. Harry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Robert Leighton of Hampden, a sister and brother-in-law Bessie and Edward Moore of Orrington, five grandchildren, Kim Farley Robert Leighton, Jr., Barbie Beal, Lisa Alley and Brent Leighton; six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, three stepchildren, several stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helena Margaret (McCann) Foster, in 1960 a brother, George Foster, in 1993, and a brother, Stephen, who died as a child, and a sister, Rosa E. Foster, in 1945."
