[18542] Fourth son.
[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 6, Ed. 1, Tree #4418, Date of Import: Apr 11, 1997] Via email 30 Oct 2000: "Through the 'book' "Flowing Waters" by Ida Catherine Lengel Vincent (1978) we were able to find Phillip, his parents and grandparents. The book is in the Harrisburg library and through the LDS microfiche. I have a few xerox pages of it. This may help any of you looking for Lengels as they mostly seem to have come from Paul (Paulus) Lingle one of the earliest settlers of the Tulpehocken area. Here goes:
Paul Lingel b.1709-d.6/1/1786 - m. Catherine
They had:
Jacob b.1732 d.1808
Frederick b.1734
Martin b.1736 d.1782
John b.1739 d.5/29/1806
Thomas b.1742 d.1811
Nickelaus b.1744
Anna Mary b.1746
Simon Conrad b.1748
*Stephen b.1750 d.1/3/1824
Casper b.1753
Stephen is our line: Stephen (1750-1824) m. 1/16/1781 Susanna Schmidt (b.1750, d.1/1825)
They had:
Johana Adam b.1782
Johana John b.1784
*Philip b. 9/6/1786 d. 12/1/1850
Matthias b.1789
George b. 1791
David b.1794
Michael b. 1797
Johan Jacob b.1/15/1799 d. 10/11/1863
Elizabeth bap. 2/27/1805
Daniel b.1808
Philip Lengel (Phillip Langel) is of course our line; he m.~1810 Elizabeth Wenrich (not Wiarick,- possibly spelled Wrenick)(b.5/26/1791, d/7/11/1876). She was related to Mathias Wenrich (Matheus Wennerich) who was also one of the first settlers in the area. Mathias Wenrich 1704-1785 was her great grandfather. His son John Wenrich 7/8/1727-6/12/1793 m. Christina Mountz 1734-1791 - they were her grandparents. Her parents were John Wenrich II 11/11/1760-5/16/1827 m. Susannah Brecht 4/21/1756-2/22/1827. This info came from "Wenrich Family Revisited" by Oby Bonawit -I have a partial copy (hard to read). It is also at the Berks Co. Historical Society (their address is online). ...They mostly were members of Christ Little Tulpehocken church (also called Christ Lutheran - Stouchburg) which is west of Bernville. I was easily able to get there as it's only about 40 minutes from where I live! The graveyard was adorable but in great need of repair. Most of the stones were unreadable and some even in German. These people pretty much lived in the Tulpehocken area (and in Heidelberg)." - Diane Land (CrafDy1954@aol.com)
