Mr. Hootman was born in Ashland County and was a member of the Jeromesville Christian Church, a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and Eagles Club at Loudonville. Surviving are his wife, Freda; three daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Linda) Hassell of Mt. Gilead, Mrs. Larry (Karolyn) Motter of Ashland and Jackie at home; three sons, Hugh D. of St. Petersburg, Fla., William of Jeromesville and Jeff at home; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Vida Shreve and Mrs. Arbie Gilbert, both of Nashville, Ohio; and a brother, Clair of Ashland. . . . Burial will be in the Jeromesville Cemetery.
