http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ida_de_Grey offers: "Ida de Grey (1368- 1 June 1426), also known as Edith de Grey was a Cambro-Norman noblewoman, and the daughter of Reginald Grey, 2nd Baron Grey de Ruthyn, a powerful Welsh Marcher lord. The Greys of Ruthyn were the chief Marcher barons in the northern region of the Welsh Marches.
Ida married Sir John Cockayne, Chief Baron of the Exchequer by whom she had six children. Through her eldest daughter Elizabeth, she was an ancestress of Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, and Catherine Howard, queens consort of King Henry VIII of England.
"Ida was born at Ruthin Castle in Ruthin, Denbighshire, Wales in 1368, the youngest daughter of Reginald Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Ruthyn and Eleanor Le Strange of Blackmere (1337- 20 April 1396). She had four siblings including Reginald Grey, 3rd Baron Grey de Ruthyn, the implacable enemy of Owen Glendower. It was her brother's land dispute with Glendower which caused the latter to launch his rebellion against King Henry IV of England and take Reginald prisoner, keeping him in confinement until he was ransomed by the king for the sum of 10,000 marks.
"Her paternal grandparents were Sir Roger Grey, 1st Baron Grey de Ruthyn and Elizabeth de Hastings. Her maternal grandparents were John Le Strange, 2nd Baron Strange of Blackmere, and Ankaret Le Botiller, daughter of Sir William Le Botiller and Ela de Herdeburgh. Ankaret was a direct descendant of Welsh Prince Gruffydd II ap Madog, Lord of Dinas Bran and his wife, Emma de Audley."
NEHGR 100:107 reports Ida "m. John Cokayne, d. 22 May 1429" and provides a line of descent to John Stratton (b. 1581) whose widow Anne emigrated to New England with their three surviving children. Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ida_de_Grey which reports "Ida's husband Sir John died in 1427 and was succeeded by their eldest son Sir Reginald. Ida died on 1 June 1426 and was buried in St. John's Church, Cockayne Hatley. There are many fine effigies of the Cockayne family which can be seen in the church at Cockayne Hatley."

Neil Underleider (neilu@comcast.net) in his 2003 web site http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/u/n/g/Neil-Ungerleider-MA provides much information on the Wardwell genealogy in America. Regarding Josiah: "During the Revolutionary War, he was impressed on board an English man-of-war and kept there for 2 years. He escaped by swimming to the shore. Several published sources have claimed that Josiah was a son of Daniel Wardwell of York by his first wife, Sarah Staples. This was probably based on the fact that Josiah named his first son and daughter Daniel and Sally, supposedly for his parents. Daniel Wardwell filed intentions at York on 24 January 1755 to marry Sarah Staples, only 2 days before the recorded birth of Josiah. Nine Months later, Daniel and Sarah brought their son Eliakim in for baptism at the York 1st Parish Church. All of Daniel's later children were also baptized at this church, but they included no son named Josiah. The only other adult Wardwell males living in York at the time of Josiah's birth were Daniel's older brothers Joseph and Jeremiah. Little is known of Joseph other than that he had a wife Mary, but he would seem the best candidate to be Josiah's father. [ - Maine Families in 1790] Notes for wife, Hannah Westcott: Hannah Wescott Wardwell, age 85, is living with her daughter Abigail Wardwell and her grandchildren, at the Narrows, Penobscot in 1850. Stephen Perkins, 62, famer, was living in the same neighborhood in 1850, two houses down. He would later marry the widow Abigail Wardwell." Note: "Maine Families in 1790, Vol. 4," Joseph Crook Anderson II and Louis Ware Thurston, editors (Camden, ME: Picton Press, 1994), p. 314, deletes Josiah from this family and inserts Eliakim, baptised in York 26 Oct 1755!
