Marion was a dressmaker, 1898-1910. After the death of her husband she moved to Ohio to live with their daughter, Vivian.
Marion was a member of the Cleveland Colony of Mayflower Descendants and of the Akron chapter of DAR. Her final years were spent with her daughter, Vivian, in Akron. She was known to her grandchildren as "Munzie." Marion m. (2) in November, 1919 in Cleveland, OH Ernest S. Peck (he was age 65 in the 1920 census) of Cleveland. Peck was the first mayor (1904-1908) of Newburgh Heights in Cuyahoga Co., OH. An Ernest S. Peck is in the 1900 city directory of Cleveland, r. 45 Clement, a "supt." The Pecks moved to Middleburgh Heights from Waterbury, CT. The Newburgh Fertilizer Company, established in 1876 by Davidson and Palmer, held by J. B. Peck, J. H. Breck, and E. S. Peck as proprietors, manufactured bone dust and superphosphates.
"The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History" offers: "NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, organized and incorporated as a village in 1904, is a .5 sq. mi. residential community south of Cleveland between the industrial valley of the CUYAHOGA RIVER and the village of CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS. It was originally part of Newburgh Twp. The name was probably taken from Newburgh, NY. Edwin S. Peck was the village's first mayor (1904-08). The population in 1909 was 400. Newburgh Hts. was settled first by New Englanders, then by IRISH and Welsh immigrants, and subsequently by POLES, CZECHS, and GERMANS who worked in the nearby steel mills and factories of NEWBURGH. In 1917 Newburgh Hts. had a building boom; farms were subdivided into residential lots, taxes rose, and a group of residents seceded and formed the village of Cuyahoga Hts. The new boundaries left the residential area in Newburgh Hts. and the farmland and industrial area in Cuyahoga Hts. Ernest S. Peck, b. 24 Oct 1854 in Brecksville, Cuyahoga Co., OH (per www.findagrave.com), was age 79 when he died 22 Feb 1934, and was buried 24 Feb 1934 at Harvard Grove, Cuyahoga Co., OH."
