The 14 July 1860 federal census of Canton Twp., Stark Co., OH lists the family (parents b. in PA, children b. in OH): Christian (age 55), Mary (51), John (23), Elizabeth (21), Sam'l (17), Ellen (11) and Mary A. Mishler (1) - Christian's real estate was valued at $16,000 and his personal estate at $1,019. The 1880 census at Canton, Stark Co., OH lists him as age 74 and a retired farmer. "A Standard History of Stark County, Ohio...," John H. Lehman, ed. (Chicago: The Lewis Publishing Co., n.d.), pp. 683-4 presents a detailed sketch of Christian and lists his children; the sketch states he was a member of the "German Baptist Church."

John appeared before the King, and professed himself ready to prove that he did not abduct her against her will, and offered a fine of 300 marks for the marriage already contracted, as it was said, between them, provided she made no further complaint against him. On 10 March 1270/1 the King ordained that if she were not content, the said fine should be void, and John should stand his trial at a month from Easter. And as she was too unwell to appear before the King, commissioners were sent to inquire into the truth of the matter, and to certify the King thereof. John and Maud, and her Ist husband, William Lungespee, were all descended from Richard fitz Ponce. Why John Giffard should have referred to himself as being of the race of Le Lungespee as in the proof of age mentioned above he is said to have done-is not explicable; unless, indeed, the sobriquet was derived from the family of Clifford."

He married Betsey Giles and they had 19 children together. He then married Lucina Richardson and they had 14 children together. He died on August 5, 1877, in Aurora, Maine, having lived a long life of 77 years, and was buried there. . . . Betsey Giles was born in 1801 in Shapleigh, Maine. She married Samuel Richardson in 1820. . . . . She died as a young mother in 1832 in Aurora, Maine, at the age of 31."

A John Ridgeley [sic] of Baltimore County, Maryland is listed as owing rent on land in Frederick County, Maryland, 1768-69 - "Early Lists of Frederick Countians," F. Edward Wright (Silver Spring, MD: Family Line Publications, 1986), p. 12. John was bapt. 20 April 1711 in All Hallows Parish, Anne Arundel Co., and died by 23 July 1767 in Anne Arundel Co. Rine, of Selinsgrove. was married Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 30 at 2 o'clock to Ralph Witmer, of Allenwood, son of Mrs. George M. Witmer, of Salem. The ceremony was performed at the North Market street home of the bride's parents. Rev. John B. Focht and Rev. Arthur C. Harris officiated. Miss Minnie Rine, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. The ring-bearers were Misses Catherine and Mary Harriet App, nieces of the bride. Miss Mary Steele, of Northumberland, played the wedding march, and George D. Witmer of Middleburg, brother of the bridegroom, sang a solo. Mr. and Mrs. Witmer will go to housekeeping in Allenwood, where Mr. Witmer is cashier of the Allenwoo Bank. Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Susquehanna University. Mr. Witmer voluntered at the outbreak of the great war in the ambulance service and was sent to France. He was later commissioned a First Lieutenant."
