The 1880 census lists him and wife Mary adjacent to his parents' residence in Brewer with son Elbridge, age 6. The 1910 federal census in Searsport, Waldo Co., ME lists Francis and wife Mary in the household of their son-in-law, Charles Davis. and in Charles Davis' household in the 1920 census in Revere, Suffolk Co., MA.

Manton (London: 1919), pp. 36-37: "According to Lambert d'Ardres there stood in the year 1,000, in the midst of the vast prairie of pasturage, probably some halfleague from the present site of the town, a large solitary chateau called 'Selvesse.' This ancient fortified chateau came into the possession of a young lady called Adela, a descendant of the Seigneurs of Bourbourg, and with the chateau, all the lands and domains around it. ...Now Eustace, Count of Guines, Lord-paramount of Artois and Picardy, asked the hand of the heiress of Selvesse in marriage, but the Bishop of Therouanne, her uncle, had assigned all her possessions to the church of Therouanne, placing his niece under the Church's special protection. After having secured her property and thwarted the Count of Guines, the bishop brought about an alliance for her with the Chatelain of Furne, who for his piety was created a peer, though he died soon after leaving two daughters named Adela and Adelis - the former marrying Eustace de Fiennes, the father of the founder of the Abbey of Beaulieu. After the death of her first husband the heiress of Selvesse married Arnold, brother to the Chatelain of Bergue, to whom the town of Ardres is indebted for its foundation. His first care was to erect a strongly fortified castle built in the form of a labyrinth, that he named 'La Motte d'Ardres.' He then began the parish church, dedicated it to St. Omer, within which eventually the founder and his wife were buried. This church still exists, and is now hemmed in by rather tumbled-down cottages, some of them being almost built into the edifice."

[5629] In 2003 http://84.1911encyclopedia.org/K/KE/KENT_KINGDOM_.htm reports: "Under the West Saxon dynasty Kent, together with Essex, Sussex and Surrey, was sometimes given as a dependent kingdom to one of the royal family. During Ecgbert's reign it was entrusted to his son Aethelwulf, on whose accession to the throne of Wessex, in 839, it was given to Aethelstan, probably his son, who lived at least till 851. From 855 to 860 it was governed by Aethelberht son of Aethelwulf. During the last years of Alfred's reign it seems to have been entrusted by him to his son Edward. Throughout the 9th century we hear also of two earls, whose spheres of authority may have corresponded to those of the two kings whom we find in the 8th century. The last earls of whom we have any record were the two brothers Sigehelm and Sigewulf, who fell at the Holm in 905 when the Kentish army was cut off by the Danes, on Edward the Elder's return from his expedition into East Anglia. [6392] James and his brother Thomas set up their logging operation at Williams Pond, ten miles from their father, in 1839. See account in Baker, George W. and Marjorie L., "Munsungun to the Sea" (N.Y.: Vantage Press, 1972), chapter 3. Williams Pond is now called Brandy Pond. James and Lucinda had nine children. The July 1860 census of Great Pond, ME lists James' place of birth as Maine and gives his household including five day laborers , a female boarder and a domestic - his own family is James (45, farmer), Lucinda (44), John (19), Edgar (18), Malisa (17), Ruth A. (15), Frank (11), Willy H. (9) and Ezra N. (4).
