[50559] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 6 June 2019": "Presque Isle - Eva May (Wight) Bowden, 90, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Penobscot, Maine, on July 7, 1928, the daughter of Louise Wight. Following graduation from high school, in 1948, she attended the Maine General School of Nursing in Portland, receiving her cap and gown in 1950. Eva was an incredible wife and mother, wonderful cook -- known especially for her fresh blueberry muffins and divinity fudge and, back in the 70s, elegant wedding cakes. But family was always her first priority, including two special 'daughters,' Tamia Glidden and Susan Kimball. Eva was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Boyd M. Bowden, who passed away last December; and her mother, who died in 1962. Mom and Dad began their life-long romance when he was in fifth grade and she was in sixth. Dad often remarked that it turned out to be a pretty good decision -- especially one made at such a young age. Eva is survived by her son, Gary M. Bowden of Presque Isle; daughter, Beth A. Brown of Poland, Maine; brother, Donald Wight and wife Sandra of South Penobscot; granddaughter, Tiffany A. Brown, and significant other, Corey Lessard; granddaughter, Brittany L. Brown Thayer, and husband, Nate Thayer; and great-grandchildren, Leyton C. and Greyson M. Thayer. Calling hours will be Monday, June 10, from 5pm to 7pm at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle. A service will be held at the Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home in Ellsworth, at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 12. Committal at the Grindle family cemetery on the Kingdom Road in Blue Hill will follow the service."
