R. Cutter, pp 135-136 and 295-298. William Johnson, the English progenitor of this family, lived at Canterbury, Kent, England, where his children were baptized in St George's Church. His wife, Susan was buried there. He married again to Ann Cobb, a widow, on 25 Aug 1617. She was buried there 27 Sep 1637. He was buried there also. He was a joiner by trade. His son Edward came to America and became one of the colony's most famous members.
