He had not been well since the fire in the Summer which destroyed his house in the north part of town. He was born in Beaver County, Pa. seventy-five years and seven months before his death. and he had lived in this county over fifty years. The funeral was held from the Church of Christ on Monday, and the burial was in the cemetery here. The Rev. S. Metzler conducted the services. Mr. Bryarly leaves a widow, who is an invalid, and six children, Mrs. J. B. Allen of California, Mrs. J. B. Coss of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Canfield of Pettisville, Charles Bryarly of Tennessee, and Fred Bryarly and Miss Irma Bryarly of this place." [35923] "The Daily Item [Sunbury, Pennsylvania}, 8 May 1939," P. 2: "Run down by an automobile while returning home shortly after midnight Sunday morning, David K. Kepner, 69, of near Port Royal, Juniata county was instantly killed. John Frymoyer of near Mexico, Juniata county, the driver of the death car, said that he did not see Kepner until he felt an impact against the side of his machine The accident occurred on a curve. Kepner was a retired farmer, and a director of the First National Bank of Port Royal. He was one of the best known citizens of that community. Dr. Penrose Shelley, of Port Royal, was summoned to the scene of the accident by a passer-by and pronounced the man dead. Kepner had suffered fractures of the left leg, left shoulder and skull and his chest was crushed. An inquest is being arranged by Coroner Karl H. Guss, of Juniata county, to be held Tuesday night at the courthouse in Miffiintown. Frymoyer has been released in $500 bail to appear at that time. State Motor Police are assisting in the investigation being directed by the coroner. Kepner was vice president of the Juniata County Agricultural Society which holds the Port Royal Fair annually. He was the president of the society last year and for several years served in other offices in that organization. He was one of the oldest members of Turbett Grange and belonged to the P. O. S. of A. of Port Royal. Surviving are eight children, Mrs. T. L. McMullen, Harrisburg, Mrs. Everett Meloy, Port Royal, Mrs J. Floyd Ritzman, of near Port Royal, Mrs. Ellis Humholtz, New Bloomfield, French W., Glenn D. and Carl Kepner, Port Royal and Lynn Kepner, of Galveston, Texas. Funeral services will be held from the late home Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with burial at that place."

She had been a patient there for two and one half weeks and had been in failing health for two years. She was born in Stroudsburg and spent most of her lifetime in the Sunbury area. She resided in Berwick the last 13 years. Her husband, Harry F. Albright, preceded her in death five years ago. She was a member of Bower Memorial EUB Church and was the last member of her immediate family. He was born November 22, 1915 in Bar Harbor, the son of Lionel and Estella (Ham) Stanley. James served as a medical supply clerk, in the Pacific, during WWII. He worked as a lobster fisherman for many years. James was a great carpenter and boat builder, he worked for Harold MacQuin and helped build the Duck Brook Bridge. James also enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was one of the original 6 stockholders of the Rock Crossing Lodge. He is survived by his son, Gary W. Stanley and wife, Kathy of Lamoine and his daughter, Gail and her husband, Carroll Leland of Town Hill. Grandchildren; Tyler W. Stanley and Maggie Stanley, both of Portland, Emma Stanley of Lamoine, Christopher T. Leland and David J. Leland and wife, Missy, all of Trenton and Mary A. Leland of Town Hill.
