[10783] Ancestry.com offers: "Booth Name Meaning - Northern English and Scottish: topographic name for someone who lived in a small hut or bothy, Middle English both(e), especially a cowman or shepherd. The word is of Scandinavian origin (compare Old Danish both, Old Norse buĂ°) and was used to denote various kinds of temporary shelter, typically a cowshed or a herdsman's hut. In the British Isles the surname is still more common in northern England, where Scandinavian influence was more marked, and in Scotland, where the word was borrowed into Gaelic as both(an)."

[22889] The LDS Church's unverified IGI file states that Mary is daughter of John Machell and Jane Woodroofe. Find A Grave memorial 114461435 offers: "She is said to have been the nurse of the first born son of King James I. His name was Prince Henry. Mary wed Rev Ralph Cudworth in 1603 and bore three sons and three daughters before her husband died in 1624. She married then to Dr. John Stoughton, who succeeded Rev Cudworth as rector in the Aller church until 1632. That year, Dr. Stoughton accepted assignment at the church of St. Mary Aldermanbury, in London. Sadly, her daughter Mary died also. In December 1634, Mary is documented in her husband's household as alive. She does not reappear in records thereafter. He married a Jane Browne in 1635 or 1636, indicating Mary had passed away by that time."
