"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 30 October 2018": "Deer Isle - Robert (Bobby) Kenneth Powers, 74, died Oct. 25, 2018, at a local hospital after a long battle with cancer. Born on March 29, 1944, in Stonington, he was the son of Phyllis (Billings) Powers and Lloyd Powers. Bobby attended school in Stonington. After graduation, he went lobstering with his grandfather (Almond C. Billings), worked at a boatyard in Blue Hill and at Vicks IGA Store in Stonington. Bobby was devoted to his twin brother, Richard. For 25 years they owned and operated Twins Service in Deer Isle. After retiring from the service station business, he and his brother started a caretaking business and a construction business building cottages, renovating old farmhouses and building studios for local artists as well as operating an automobile detailing business. He and his brother were well known as honest, organized and skilled workers, always giving a full days work for a full days pay. Many friends and family will remember the good times and dinners and picnics at 'the house next to the garage' and watching Bobby drive the 1981 Oldsmobile and Dickie drive the 1964 Chevy Impala in the Deer Isle 4th of July parade for many years. Together Bob and Dickie made many trips to Virginia and Florida, always making many friends as they went.
Bobby is survived by his twin brother, Richard (Dickie) Powers, and brothers Norman Powers and his wife, Betsey (Hupper), and Douglas Powers and his wife, Tammy (Hutchins), sisters Jacqueline Carter Sackett and Alda Craig and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Bobby was predeceased by his brother Lloyd Powers."
