[1251] His siblings are supplied by Marston Watson (a descendant), see under his father. Pierce's Colonial Lists (p. 5) lists him as Marshal at Sandwich, MA from June, 1698 to 1692 and (p. 14) as a Selectman, 1689-90. It is interesting that the NEGHR Oct 1849, p. 352, lists William Bassett, Sr. and William Bassett, Jr. as Freemen in Lynn, MA 18 April 1691. Find A Grave memorial 37614226 offers: "Grandson of Captain William Bassett of Plymouth, Massachusetts, who arrived on the Fortune in 1621. Who was the gunsmith of Plymouth and whos sword can still be seen at the Pilgrim's Memorial Hall. His father was Deacon William Bassett and his mother was Mary (Raynesford) Bassett. Colonel William Bassett - was Marshall of Plymouth Colony at the time of the Union with Mass. and a judge of the Inferior Court in 1710. He was an excellent penman, and wrote in a very small, yet distinct and beautiful hand. Third successive William Bassett of this line was the 'Hon. Judge' William Bassett of Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Being but fourteen years of age when his father died, guardianship was granted to Mr. Hinckley, later Governor of the Colony. William Bassett attained considerable distinction in the colony. In addition to serving as a captain in the militia and member of the war council in 1689, he became a judge of the superior court of Massachusetts from 1710-1715, also serving as chief marshall of Plymouth colony from 1689-1692. He was stated to be 'the most distinguished of any of the name in Massachusetts.'"

[51577] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 16 July 2018": "Gerald 'Jerry' Orrin Gray, 81, of Sedgwick, Maine, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, 10 July 2018, in the Island Nursing Home of Deer Isle, Maine, just a few hours shy of his 82nd birthday, as Jerry was born in Castine, on 11 July 1936. Gerald, more frequently known as Jerry, loved to help others and would do anything for anyone. He started very young, working as a woodsman with his father, and continued in this profession throughout his life, working side-by-side with his son, Doug. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to explore nature, both in his work and recreation. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and trapping, and shared many of these experiences with his family and friends, who always enjoyed listening to Jerry's storytelling. He was a lifetime member of the Rainbow Rosier Grange, in Brooksville. Jerry is remembered for his handsome smile, good-natured teasing and his passion for his beliefs. Gerald spent his final days surrounded by his loving family. He will live on forever in many hearts, memories and prayers. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Moyle and Florence (Willey) Gray; an infant grandson and an infant great-granddaughter. Left to cherish his memory are Gerald's loving wife, Betty Ann (Astbury) Gray, of sixty-three years; their sons, Reggie (Barbara) Gray, Douglas (Wendy) Gray, all of Sedgwick; and Stacy Gray (and his partner, Gino Bastianelli), of Bloomfield, Connecticut; four granddaughters, Heather (Dana) Candage, of Brooklin; Heidi (Victor) Gillen and Naomi (Ryan) Dorr, all of Sedgwick; and Brandy Gray (and her partner, Lloyd Turner), of Penobscot, Maine. Also survinving are seven great-grandchildren, Dakota, Daniel and Damon Gillen; Amanda and Rylee Dorr; and Sarah and Joshua Chambers; his two sisters, Margaret Pert, of Sedgwick and Suzanne Black, of Blue Hill; along with several nieces, nephews and friends."

[12626] Doris m. 20 Oct 1937 in Los Angeles, CA Elmer Cliff Bryon and r. North Hollywood, CA. Doris' obituary from the "Leader-Telegram," Eau Claire, WI, 12 Jan 2011: "Doris Marie Bryan was born February 4, 1913, in Dike, Iowa, the third child of Jerome and Amy (Dietrick) Heichel. Her life through high school was spent mostly in and around Waterloo, but following graduation she and her mother moved west, settling in Glendale, California, where she worked at various domestic jobs and as a waitress. In July of 1937 Doris was introduced to E. Clifford Bryan at the home of mutual friends and they were married in October the same year. Their first child, Douglas, died shortly after birth on December 19, 1940. In 1943, Cliff was drafted into the United States Army. While he was serving overseas, Doris gave birth to their daughter, Barbara. The family was completed with birth of son Thomas a few years after World War II. Doris' married life came to an end when Clifford died in 1977. In 1979, Doris decided that in order to stay close to her children and grandchildren she would divide her time between Santa Cruz, California and Stone Lake, Wisconsin. She continued this annual migration for 20 years, until settling full-time in Wisconsin in 2001. For almost eight years she enjoyed the community of the Heritage Apartment complex in Eau Claire, and for the past three years lived at Oak Gardens Assisted Living facility in Altoona. Doris was, among other things, a great cook and a great storyteller. She also thoroughly enjoyed fishing and playing cards. She was a wonderful mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and added a welcome spark of life to many generations of family and friends. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Stone Lake, Wisconsin and more recently of St. John's Lutheran Church of Eau Claire. It was with her death that she rang in the New Year, dying on January 1, 2011 at the age of 97. Doris was the last of her generation in the family and was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and her infant son. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Larry) McNeill; and son, Thomas (Sara) Bryan. She is also survived by grandsons, Bryan and Ross; granddaughters, Erica and Nicole; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews."
