[10709] The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File (9XQZ-H3) states that William was of Eaton Bray in 1216 and is son of Walter Cantilupe of Longueville, Channel Isles. See "Medieval Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 47. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candleston_Castle offers: "Ancient charters of Glamorgan, whilst replete with mentions of the name Cantilupe, reveal little concrete evidence as to the role and genealogy of the family. The relationship of the Cantilupe family of Glamorgan to its more illustrious branch descended from Fulk de Cantilupe (d.1217/18) has not been determined with certainty. Fulk was Sheriff of Berkshire 1200-01 and a member of the household of Count John of Mortain, future King. He was granted much land in the Civil War, in Hants., Wilts., Northants. and Essex amongst other places. His heir was nephew William I de Cantilupe (d.1239), buried at Studely Priory (Warks.), Steward of the Household to King John. His younger son Walter (d.1266) became Bishop of Worcester, his heir being William II (d.1251), Steward of King Henry III. William II's 3rd. son was St. Thomas(d.1282), Bishop of Hereford, canonised 1320.The See of Hereford still bears the Cantilupe arms, reversed, in honour of St. Thomas. http://www.herefordcathedral.org/ William III, heir of William II married Eva de Briouze, da, and heiress of William V de Briouze Lord of Brecon and Bergavenny. His heir Sir George de Cantilupe, Lord of Bergavenny, born at Bergavenny in 1251, was the last of the greater Cantilupe line, dying without male issue in 1273." Seven years later the family grew with three daughters: Cindy, Marianne, and April. Carl enjoyed playing golf with Arlene, betting on the horses at the track, corresponding with family and friends, and playing cards (hearts, spades, and cribbage) and board games with family during get togethers. The family remained in the Wilmington house until 2003, when they sold the house and split the year on both coasts, living with April in California and with Cindy in New Hampshire. They traveled and enjoyed family for 15 years until they moved into Langdon Place of Nashua, an assisted living facility. Carl enjoyed visits from his extended family, worked on Sudoku puzzles, and crossword puzzles and reading books in his favorite recliner. And a weekly game of cribbage with son-in-law Mark. Carl is survived by his wife Arlene (happily married to and dancing through life for more than 75 years), his son Donald Smallidge and his wife Gale Davison of Waterville, his son David Smallidge and his wife Mary Ann of Brockton, Mass., his daughter Cynthia Morrissey and her husband Mark of Merrimack, N.H., his daughter April Bonot and her husband Butch of Beaumont, Calif., his cousin Karen Pierce Hodgkins and daughter Erica Bernier and family, his nephew Mike Turner and his wife Tracy, his niece Lisa Turner and family, grandchildren Erick Smallidge and his wife Nicole, Jeffrey Smallidge and his wife Denise, Tara Smallidge and her partner Eric Ransom, Andrew Morrissey, Julie Stillman and her husband Craig, Kia Schmied and her husband Dom, Victoria DiLiddo, Deidre Galasso and her husband Shaun, great grandchildren Avery and Delaney Smallidge, Kayleigh, Liam and Connor Smallidge, Eli and Grace Galasso.
