"Duncannon Record [Duncannon, Pennsylvania], 12 June 1941," p. 5: "Mrs. Gertrude Jane Briner, aged 72 years, 2 months, 26 days, wife of Edward G. Briner, died at her home in Loysville Friday morning, of a lingering illness, although bedfast only a few weeks. She was a daughter of Emanuel and Harriet Rice Garber and was born at Stony Point. All her married life was spent in Loysville and vicinity. She was an active member of Lebanon Reformed Church and Sunday School, a former teacher in the latter. Always of a genial, cheery disposition, friendly to all whom she met and knew. A good true wife and mother and her passing is regretted by a large circle of friends. Surviving her are her husband, three daughters and three sons: Harriet, Mrs. Irvin Martin; Hope, Mrs. David Elder, Harrisburg; Sara, Mrs. Paul Shreffler, Blain; Dewey Briner, Overview; Garber Briner and E. Floyd Briner, Loysville. Thirteen grand children, and the following brothers and sisters: Charles Garber, Harrisburg; Elizabeth Mrs. Jacob Dum, New Bloomfield; Rice Garber, Mechanicsburg; Mrs. Dora Bernheisel and Stella, Mrs. J. H. Noll, Green Park."
