[20016] "Bill" was an architect and r. Ann Arbor, MI. He and wife "Jo" _____ has at least two known children, Lane (female, a junior at the University of MI in 1970) and Jill (age 16 in 1970). He served as a Tec 3 in the U.S. Army during World War II. "Detroit Free Press [Detroit, Michigan], 17 May 1997," p. 10: "William H. Gardner, 72, was an architect who left his mark across America by helping to design attractions such as Sea World's Shamu Stadium in Orlando, Fla., and buildings such as the TWA terminal at Kennedy International Airport in New York. Two months ago, in late March, Mr. Gardner died from complications of scleroderma. 'He was a very capable architect' said his son, John. Mr. Gardner worked with Eero Sarrinen & Associates Architects in Bloomfield Hills in the 1950s and 1960s. While there, he worked as project architect for Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. In the 1970s and '80s he taught architecture at the University of Michigan as an adjunct professor. He established a firm in Detroit and was the principal architect for the Burroughs World Headquarters building in Detroit and Wayne State University's Shapero Hall. When he was with Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo, he worked on the Morgan Bank World Headquarters building in New York City and Corning Glass Corporate Headquarters in Corning, New York. Mr. Gardner, a former Pleasant Ridge and Birmingham resident, retired nine years ago. Before his death he was living in the Grand Traverse Bay area, just north of Traverse City. Besides his son, Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Jo Ann; his daughters, Lane Gardner Milligan of Mexico City and Jill Gardner Bakewell of Adrian; six grandchildren, and a sister. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City."

(Hanscom) Ashmore, 76, passed on July 28, 2023, with her sister and brother by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. June was born on August 15, 1946, in Machias, ME to Herbert A. Hanscom Jr. and Flora (Purington) Hanscom. She dedicated her life to educating the youth of Downeast. Her greatest achievement was the revival and leadership of the Machias Valley Christian School. She was an active member of her community as a businesswoman, a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce, and life-long member of the Machias Valley Baptist Church. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come. She loved to laugh and enjoy moments with her family. June was always up for a good game or crazy challenge from her sister during family gatherings. She always had time to listen and offer advice to anyone in need. She was kindhearted and special in ways beyond words and will hold a place in many hearts forever. The world has lost a wonderful person, but heaven will receive a good and faithful servant. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. - Proverbs 31:29. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Ashmore; her parents; nephew, Josh Hanscom; and niece, Jessika Guptill. [8719] Jacob is son of John Myers and Catharine Hostetter. He and Ella were members of Trinity Reformed (now UCC) Church, New Bloomfield. Jacob owned a large tract of timber land, farmed and owned the famed Springdale Park dancing pavillion in the Bloomfield Narrows (opened about 1919). "The Perry County Democrat, 23 March 1932," p. 3: "Jacob H. Myers, who resided in the Newport-Bloomfield Narrows, died in the Harrisburg Hospital Thursday of last week, death being due supposedly to blood poisoning, although the hospital physicians were not certain of that diagnosis. He had been ill one week. He was aged 63 years, 3 months and 17 days. The deceased was a son of John and Catharine (Hostetter) Myers and was born and reared near the home where he died. He married Miss Ellen Hollenbaugh, who survives with the following named sons and daughters: Horace Myers, Harrisburg; Maud, Camden, N. J.; Vernon, Centre township, and Clarence, Helen and Marion at home. One child is dead. Two brothers and one sister are living George Myers, of Newport; John F., Centre township, and Mrs. Cora Frownfelter, of New Bloomfield. Mr. Myers was a farmer by occupation and owned a great deal of timber land. He was widely known, being proprietor of the dancing pavilion at Springdale Park, in the Narrows. He was a member of the Bloomfield Reformed Church and was a good-natured, kind-hearted man and had many friends, who learned of his death with sincere regret. Funeral services were held at his late home on Sunday, conducted by the Rev. T. V. Miller, of Newport, and burial was in Newport cemetery."
