"The News-Messenger [Fremont, Ohio], 20 November 1962," p. 2: "James Clayton Heichel, 38, Bettsville, inspector at Atlas Crankshaft Co., Fostoria, and member of the Bettsville volunteer fire department, died Monday at 12:25 p.m. in Crile Veteran's hospital, Parma. Ill since June, he had been hospitalized nine weeks. Mr. Heichel was a member of Bettsville Methodist church and National Professional Roller Skaters' Association. He served as secretary of his labor union. Born March 15, 1924 in Mansfield, he was the son of James E. and Katheryn Weingardener Heichel. Surviving are his widow, the former Betty Ann Pierce, whom he married November 2, 1957; two children by a former marriage, Elizabeth and Charles in Michigan; brothers, Allen, Cleveland, Earl and David, both of Mansfield; Kenny in the U. S. Air Force; sisters. Mrs. Katheryn Crouse, Mrs. Shirley Kline and Mrs. Mary David, all of Mansfield, and his mother, Mrs. Stanley Objecski, also of Mansfield. Mr. Heichel was a veteran of the Navy in World War II and also the Korean conflict."
