She died on Wednesday morning, 23d inst, at seven o'clock, after an illness of about two weeks. The sad news of her death was a shock to her many friends and especially to her family. On the Monday morning previous to her death, at about ten o'clock, she was sitting in her arm chair nursing one of her grand children. At noon of the same day she became unconscious and remained in that condition until death relieved her of her sufferings. She was a loving mother and an affectionate wife. She was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. She was truly a mother to the poor in the neighborhood. She was the mother of twelve children. A husband and seven children survive her, and, also, one sister, Mrs. Henry Sowers, formerly of Spring township but now of New Kingston, Cumberland county, Pa. Mrs. Rice was a consistent member of the Reformed church for fifty-eight years. The funeral look place on Friday, 25th inst., at ten o'clock. Internment in the Landisburg Cemetery. She was nged about seventy-five years."
