[30596] "History of Alabama and dictionary of Alabama biography," Volume 3, p. 254: "...son of Thomas Henry and Therese (Monte) Bullen of Louisville, Ky., grandson of William and Eliza Ann (Meares) Bullen, of eastern Maryland. Mr Bullen received his early education in the public schools of Louisville, Ky., and Montgomery, and was graduated from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, B.S., 1892, C.E. 1900. He served as a clerk of the L & N railroad at Montgomery from 1892 until 1900; was assistant highway engineer for Jackson County three years, and chief engineer, two years; assistant engineer in the extension of the cityu water works at Montgomery; private engineer, 1905-1906; county engineer for Montgomery and Morgan Counties, 1906-1911; parish engineer of the Caddo Parish, La., October, 1911 - August 1916; county engineer of Raleigh County, Va., August, 1916-November 1916; U.S. district engineer for the bureau of roads, in charge of Federal aid roadwork of six southeastern states, 1916-1919. He enlisted in the Montgomery Greys during the Spanish-American War, and was promoted from private to second lieutenant, and after the was, became captain. He is a Democrat, and Episcopalian; and a member of the Phi Delta Theta College fraternity."

She is survived by her sons John Chipman and wife Rhonda and Darren Chipman and wife Sasha; brother Philip Farren and wife Shalba; sister Elaine Beal and husband Clarence 'Skip'; grandchildren Monica and Tyler; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Prescott and Natalene Farren; a brother Prescott 'Buddy' Farren Jr; sisters Rosalee Farren and Barbara Matthews; and grandchildren Elijah and Sophia."
