Closson, predeceased her in 1974. She is survived by her six children, Barbara Carlow and her husband, Roger of Lincoln, Patricia Black and her husband, Ernest of Brooksville, John Closson and his wife, Linda of Brooksville, Jane Hale and her husband, Donald of Sargentville, Tinny O'Rourke of Cumberland, Md., Richard Closson and his wife, Sherrianne of Brooksville; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews."

Born in Ashland, he had been a city resident his entire life. He was a graduate of the Ohio State University and a member of the Tau Beta Phi and the A1pha Rio Chi architectural fraternities. For 37 years, he was employed at the Union Hardware Co., with his father and brother, and he was former owner of the Union Hardware in Mansfield. Prior to joining the company, he was employed as an architect. He was a member of the Ashland First Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge 151 F and AM, the Scioto Valley Consistory of Columbus, the Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland and the Ashland Shrine Club. He was a charter member of the Ashland Jaycees, the City Planning Commission, the Ohio Hardware Assn., the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, the Ashland Country Club and the Young Men's Business Club. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Hipp of Ashland; one son, Robert Jr. of cincinnati; one brother, Guy C. of Ashland and four granddaughters. Private services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Denbow-Primm Funeral Home, Ashland, with the Rev. Eldon Smith officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery."
