[14124] "West Schuylkill Herald [Tower City, Pennsylvania], 03 April 1931," p. 2: "Mrs. Clara Ida Mattern, a native of near Greenbrier in Northumberland county, died at the family residence at Valley View at 4:15 o'clock, March 26th, after a brief illness of acute encephalitis and influenza. Her age was 61 years and 18 days. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Geist and his wife, nee Mary Latsha. She is survived by her husband Daniel Mattern and the following children: Lloyd and Williard, of Shamokin; Guy, of Rebucks; and Mildred at home, and three grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother also survive, viz: Mrs. C. F. Miller, of Bethlehem: Mrs. David Troutman, of Greenbrier, and Jesse Geist residing in the state of Florida. The funeral was held from her late home at Valley View at 1 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, March 31st. with services at the house, conducted by Rev. H. M. Mentzer of the U. B. Church of Valley View when the funeral cortege moved to Kimmel's Church near Rebucks in Northumberland county, where further services were held, conducted by Rev. Kline of Lutheran Church, and burial made in the adjoining cemetery."

Find A Grave memorrial 102399364 offers: "Thomas married 26 December 1667 at Salisbury, Massachusetts to Martha Barnard, a daughter of Thomas Barnard. As was required of all male inhabitants over the age of 16 years, Thomas made his Oath of Allegiance, on 20 December 1677 as a resident of Amesbury. Thomas Haynes received land in Amesbury, Massachusetts 1661, 1666 and 1675. He was a petition signer in October 1671 as a resident of Amesbury, served in the training band in 1680. Thomas Haynes died about the year 1683. An inventory of his estate was made 25 September 1683. Ref: Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury (Hoyt). Whitmore, in his book Genealogical Guide to Early Settlers of America, expressed the possibility that Thomas Haynes was in Maine, 1658-1665, but that statement is doubtful, and it also seems doubtful Thomas was born 1645 as claimed on several internet websites. Thomas Haynes of Amesbury is not shown as being the same Thomas Haynes, an early inhabitant of Maquoit (Casco Bay) Maine in 1641, who was driven off by the Indians and was at Lynn, Massachusetts with his wife, Joyce in the year 1678. Since both are known to have married women with different names and were living simultaneously in different localities of Massachusetts, it is doubtful they were the same person."
