Find A Grave memorial 128613982 offers: "The Mayors of Norwich, 1403-1835," by Basil Cozens-Hardy and Ernest Kent
Records the following information about Christopher Baret, page 79: "Christopher Baret was sheriff in 1615 and mayor in 1634, and was chosen deputy mayor in 1647, when John Utting was imprisoned for his Royalist sympathies. He (Christopher) was born in 1562 and was the son of William Baret of Westhall, Suffolk, by his second wife, Margaret Pettishaw. By trade he was a grocer, having been apprenticed by his stepfather in London. He acquired Suckling House from John Suckling in 1595, and he lived there for several years. Norris records that on the porch of this house were initials C B and the date 1634. He married at St Peter Mancroft (Norwich), Elizabeth, daughter of Allen Clark of Hemmingstone, Lincolnshire. He died "very ancient" in 1649 and his wife in 1660-1, and they were both buried in St Andrews (Norwich)". This memorial states Christopher is son of Gent. William Barrett (1513-1565) & Margaret Pettingale (1524-1576).

Robert was Baron of Skelton and was granted Annandale in 1124. See a discussion of this uncertain ancestry on the Web (in 2003) at http://www.baronage.co.uk/bphtm-03/bruce-03.html. Find A Grave memorial 85709254 and succeeding generations offers different dates, etc. and reports: "Robert de Brus was the 1st Lord of Cleveland and Annandale.
He was granted Skelton in Yorkshire, by King Henry I in 1106, and had a charter from King of Scots, David I, for Annandale about 1124. In 1138, shortly before the Battle of the Standard, he renounced his allegiance to Scotland and resigned his lands to his younger son, Robert. There were two sons: Robert de Brus, 2nd Lord of Annandale, who inherited the Lordship of Annandale, Adam de Brus, whose descendants continued to hold lands in England as Lords of Skelton. When Peter de Brus III, last Bruce Lord of Skelton, died in 1272, his sisters were co-heiresses. One of them, Laderia, carried Carleton to her marriage with John de Bellew, whose daughter, Sybil married Sir Miles de Stapleton (k. 1314, at the Battle of Bannockburn), whose family were subsequently designated "of Carleton". This appears to confirm the de Brus and de Pagnall of Carleton connection. Sir Miles Stapleton's son and heir, Sir Gilbert (d. 1321) married Agnes, daughter of Bryan FitzAlan, Lord FitzAlan, and a granddaughter of Devorguilla of Galloway (d. 1290) wife of John de Balliol, Lord of Barnard Castle, whose son was King John of Scotland."

[58137] The unverified file LYMH-WLF in familysearch.org provides this line and offers: "When Charles Whitcomb 'Whit' Shaw was born on 30 January 1928, in Caribou, Aroostook, Maine, United States, his father, Sterling E Shaw, was 25 and his mother, Marjorie E. Whitcombe, was 28. He married Janet Mae Foster on 5 November 1951, in Caribou, Aroostook, Maine, United States. He lived in Caribou, Washington, Maine, United States for about 5 years and Falmouth, Cumberland, Maine, United States in 1985. He died on 22 March 2012, in Hillsborough, Orange, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 84." "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 17 April 2012: "Hillsborough, N.C. - Charles Whitcomb Shaw, 84, best known as Whit Shaw, formerly of Falmouth Foreside and Cousins Island, passed away March 22, 2012, in Hillsborough, N.C., from Alzheimer's disease. Throughout the entangled cognitive web of this cruel disease, Mr. Shaw amazingly managed to retain his positive social attitude and beautiful smile. Mr. Shaw was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Caribou, the son of Sterling E. Shaw and Marjorie Whitcomb Shaw. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1945. Mr. Shaw graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1949 and received his Master of Business Administration degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass. Later in life Mr. Shaw received a fellowship from Oxford University in the U.K. Mr. Shaw also served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Whit Shaw was always proud in saying that he had been an entrepreneur all his life and that 'the Shaws have never worked for anyone,' beginning with his great-grandfather Shaw and on through to his brother, John and his nephew, Johnny Shaw, of Portland. Mr. Shaw's entrepreneurial ventures began as owner and president of the Ford-Mercury Dealership in Caribou, which was the oldest family owned and operated Ford dealership in the U.S. Mr. Shaw's grandfather, Elibe Shaw, traveled to Detroit by train in 1912 to personally meet with Henry Ford and returned to Caribou with four cars thus beginning the enterprise which was ultimately handed to his son, Sterling E. Shaw, who in turn passed it on to Whit Shaw, who ran it for 10 years, from 1963 to 1972. After selling the Ford dealership, Mr. Shaw relocated to Cape Elizabeth with his family, where he spent time writing his book, 'Mind Your Own Business.' He then reinvented himself and founded Whit Shaw Associates, Inc., a national consulting firm for business start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, which he operated until 1990, when he thought he wanted to retire. His retirement was short lived and in 1993, he founded International Corporate Consultants, Ltd., an international business start-up consulting firm, which he operated until 2005. During his lifetime, Mr. Shaw was president of Maine Automobile Dealers Association in 1970; co-founder of WDHP Radio, Inc., Caribou, and president of European Ski Charters Unlimited. Mr. Shaw was a longtime avid tennis player and skier. Mr. Shaw is survived by his wife of 28 years, Connie Casavant Shaw of Hillsborough, N.C.; his brother, John R. Shaw and his wife, Norma, of Caribou; and three daughters, Tammy A. Shaw of Sarasota, Fla., Lisa A. Walker of Farmington and Karen Shaw, of Rockwell City, Iowa. Whit Shaw's two lifelong mottoes that he passionately lived by were: 'Find a way or make a way' and 'Carpe diem' . . . and indeed he did!"
