Joseph Ellis Barnett is described by David Ellis Piper as a Major and Surgeon with the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry - and is reported to have delivered both Ellis and Randall Piper.

Epler, a former supervisor of Londonderry Township, died Saturday at Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elizabethtown, after a long illness. He was 92. Formerly of 3090 Brinser Road, Middletown, he had lived in the Leader Center since 1988. He was the husband of Catherine Martin Epler. They would have observed their 65th anniversary on Nov. 10. He farmed in Londonderry Township before retiring in 1969. Epler also served as township supervisor for 18 years. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Elizabethtown, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. An avid small-game hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors, baseball and conversation. Born in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County, he was the son of the late David M. and Emma Nissley Epler. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, J. Frank of Middletown and David of Elizabethtown; two daughters, June Hippensteel and Anna Epler, both of Elizabethtown; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild."

[38789] A newspaper article dated 1 September 1875, reprinted in "The Airy View" (newsletter of The Perry Historians), Vol. 28, No. 1, gives lengthy information concerning Jacob Lupher, collector of state and county taxes in Rye Twp., Cumberland (now Perry) County; this article states that Jacob was b. in Germany in 1721 and emigrated to America in 1752, settling first in Berks Co., PA where he m. "Miss Gumber," moving in 1778 to Sherman's Valley, Rye Twp. (just west of New Bloomfield). He donated the lots for the Church and cemetery in Loysville. Ancestry.com offers: "Lupfer Name Meaning - German: habitational name from Lupfen, a lost place near Tuttlingen."

She was born Sept. 13, 1917 in Shepherd, Texas, the daughter of Edwin and Callie (Howard) Mack. Beulah was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and Webber General Hospital Nursing Program, Biddeford. She worked at various hospitals in the area and retired from Brewer Rehab. Living Center in 1982 as the director of nursing. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Hamel and her husband, Ronald of Mission, Texas, Donna Holland and her husband, Ronald of Eddington, and Shirley Airey and her husband, William of Brewer; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frederick Mack of Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, Raymond Goodwin and his wife, Eleanor of California; one sister-in-law and best friend, Helen Frost of Hampden; several nieces and nephews. . . . Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth."

Willey, 83, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at MCMH following long term illnesses and his battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 27, 1930, to Lawrence C. Willey Sr. and Persis Morrison in Milbridge. In the 1950s he served in the U.S. Army in Germany along side his brother, Alonzo Willey. Lawrence was an avid hunter in his early years. He loved the outdoors and anything to do with nature, especially watching the squirrels play out the window. He was a really big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He always looked forward to watching a game. He was a loving and caring father, an amazing grandfather, and he adored his great-grandchildren. He was very friendly to everyone. He will be loved and missed by many. He is survived by his son, Eric Willey of Milbridge; daughters, Joan and Karen Willey of Cherryfield and Annette Willey of South Gouldsboro; brothers, Alonzo Willey of Cherryfield and James Willey of Massachusetts; sisters, Joann Tucker and husband, Lionelle, of Ellsworth and Jeannie Willey of Sullivan; grandchildren, Mary, Jeffrey, Nick, Chris, Kevin, Katie, Nena, Cassie, Alicia, Paige, and Courtney Willey, and Amanda Dunbar, and Precious and Logan Townsend; great-grandchildren, Mariah, CJ, Conner, Braydon, Cameron, Mekenna, Kaydence, Tristan, Shaylee, Kylie, Payton, Khloe, Tanner, Niomi, Lillianna, and Maddison. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence C Willey Sr. and Persis Morrison; wife, Patricia A. Kilton-Willey; and great-granddaughter, Morgan E. Dunbar."
