Ethel was a member of the Sedgwick Baptist Church and a member of the Harborview Chapter of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Butch) Byard and his wife, Saralyn, of Sedgwick; a daughter, Sandra Hill and her husband, Richard, of Blue Hill; grandchildren, Allison Charles, Lisa Dauphinee, Elizabeth Ladd, Miranda Byard and Matthew Byard; great-grandchildren, Hazen, and Samantha Dauphinee, Nathaniel and Amanda Ladd, William and Katherine Charles; two sisters-in-law, Priscilla Byard Walsh and Frances Byard; cousin, Dora Pickering; special friends, Marilyn Byard Reuter, Elsie Tucker and Tottie Billings; special niece, Catherine Allen; and other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald E. Byard in September 1982; son, Edward S. Byard in 1935; six sisters and five brothers."

He married Anne Pinney on November 9, 1731, in Torrington, Connecticut. They had eight [known] children in 19 years. He died on October 18, 1787, in his hometown, having lived a long life of 83 years. When Anne Pinney was born on January 24, 1712, in Hebron, Connecticut, her father, Isaac, was 25, and her mother, Abigail, was 26. . . . She died on January 28, 1789, in her hometown, having lived a long life of 77 years."
