He is survived by his wile, Faye; two sons, Roger R. of Texarkana, Texas, and Norman of Ashland; six grandchildren and a brother, Lloyd of Ashland. Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Ashland with the Rev. George Sheets officiating. Burial will be in the Hayesville Cemetery. "

"The Barre Daily Times [Barre, Vermont], 22 October 1920," p. 1: "Westminster, Mass., Oct. 22. Rev. Burton S. Gilman, 56, died suddenly on Wednesday while driving an automobile on Bacon street. It is believed that Mr. Gilman suffered an attack of heart failure. The machine left the road and struck a tree. Rev. Mr. Gilman had been actively engaged as a farmer since last March when he retired after serving for 23 years as pastor of the First Congregational church in Gardner. Wednesday morning he covered his route in Gardner for the delivery of milk and cream and was returning home. Charles Mansfield and Wallace Flagg who were working on the highway, went to the scene immediately. Dr. George Mossman was summoned, but Mr. Gilman was dead when he arrived. Rev. Mr. Gilman was a native of Randolph, Vt. Besides his wife, who was Miss Nellie Osgood of Gardner, he leaves three daughters, Miss Ruth Gilman, a nurse at the Children's hospital, Boston, Miss Esther Gilman of Gardner and Miss Elizabeth Gilman of Westminster, a student at Mt. Holyoke college, and two brothers living at Randolph, Vt."

He was a native of Boston and a faculty member of the Dearborn School in Cambridge, a subsidiary of Lesley College, for 23 years. He was an engineering specialist for foreign and domestic manufacturers of model railroad equipment and he built one of the largest model railroad collections in the eastern United States. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Helen (Conant); a sister, Leslie Grinnell of Greenwich, Conn., and a brother, Charles W. of Manchester."
