She was born Sept. 16, 1914 in Yeagertown to the late George W. and Mae (Bixler) Campbell. She was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; a member of Incarnation United Church of Christ, Newport; and a former president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Newport. Kuss and Doris Elmore, both of Florida; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Campbell of South Dakota." Ancestry.com offers: "Campbell Name Meaning - Scottish: nickname from Gaelic cam 'crooked', 'bent' + beul 'mouth'. The surname was often represented in Latin documents as de bello campo 'of the fair field', which led to the name sometimes being 'translated' into Anglo-Norman French as Beauchamp. In New England documents, Campbell sometimes occurs as a representation of the French name Hamel."

[3120] "Had grant of Audley, co. Staff., from Nicholas de Verdun during the reign of Stephen." {-per Vernon M. Norr's "Some Early English Pedigrees" (Arlington, VA, 1968, p.9} See "Descendants of Lydulph (Liulf) deAldithley and Adam de Stanleigh" at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ourpage/reports/GRStanleigh1.htm which states he "Was the first member of the Audley family to appear in official records. He was the freehold tenant of the Manors of Aldithley and Balterley in Staffordshire." A different ancestry (with reference to the LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File) is offered on the Web at http://www.reimert.org/genealogy/database/d129.htm which states Liulf is son of Liulf (b. ca. 1083 in Heleigh, Staffordshire), who is son of Adam de Aldithley (b. ca. 1050 in Normandy and served in the Battle of Hastings in 1066), son of Adam de Aldithley (b. ca. 1030 in Normandy and served in the Battle of Hastings in 1066) of whom the Web site reports: "William Duke of Normandy was attended in his expedition to England by Adam de Aldithley or Audithley, who was accompanied from Audithley, in Normandy, by histwo sons, Lydulph and Adam de Audithley. On William obtaining the crown of England, he conferred upon Adam de Audithley the elder, large and valuable possessions and other favours, as he did to all his followers. Adam de Audithley appears th have been a great favourite with King William and his Queen for we are informed that Queen Matilda, the wife of the Conqueror, and the daughter of Baldwin, Earl of Flanders, and commonly mentioned as Maud the Stranger, gave to Adam de Audithley, the elder, the seat of Red Castle, in the county of Salop or Shropshire, with all the lands and tenements appertithng thereto, where the family seems to have resided until the completion of the building of Healey Castle, in the county of Stafford, whence they derived the title of Barons of Healey, but which member of the family built the castle, or which of them first took possession of it, we are not informed."
