Find A Grave memorial 92161974 reports: "Birth registered in South Shields, Durham, under Alexander Charles Anderson. He appears on the 1871 census with his parents in Over Dinsdale, Co. York, as Alex C. Anderson." He emigrated in 1891. The 20 April 1910 federal census lists him at 139 S. Broadway St., Akron, Summit Co., OH and states he is a "floor walker" in a "dry goods store"; at 140 S. Broadway St. is the John Motz family (he is the Akron City Treasurer). "The Akron Beacon Journal, 26 December 1947," p. 23: "Charles A. Anderson, 77, active in Masonic groups and an employe of the M. O'Neil Co. for 43 years, died Thursday at City hospital. His home was at 740 Hillsdale av. Mr. Anderson was a native of Scotland and belonged to Lodge Loudon of Killwinning, oldest Masonic lodge in Scotland. He came to Akron 54 years ago and was manager of the Boston store before going to the M. O'Neil Co. He was a member of the Knights Templar, the Cleveland Consistory, the Akron Commandery and Akron lodge No. 83 F. & A. M. He leaves his wife, Jennie."
