Born June 30, 1945, in Morenci, he was the son of the late William John and Katherine (Eldredge) Wollter. Bill graduated from Morenci Area Schools in 1963 and was a self-employed contractor in the steel building industry. He married Fleurette M. (Robinson) Slayton on Jan. 20, 2018, at the Morenci First Congregational Church. In addition to being a member of the church, Bill was a member of the 32nd Order of Masons in Adrian, the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and the Sierra Club. He enjoyed fishing and loved hunting. His hunting adventures took him all over the world to places including Alaska, Europe and on an African safari. Bill was a man of conviction who readily shared his beliefs. A friend to all, he enjoyed socializing and most importantly enjoyed time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kristina (and Eric) DeMeritt of Ocean Springs, Miss., Kandice Jarrell (and Roy Speiser) of Morenci, Billi Jo (and Arthur) Erbskorn, also of Morenci; two step-daughters, Danielle Slaughter of Morenci and Adrienne Slaughter of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Patricia Houttekier of Morenci; four grandchildren, Jacquie, Nick, Benett, and Emmett; and two great-grandchildren, Max and Roman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jim Jarrell; brother-in-law, Dwight Houttekier; and two granddaughters, Atlee Jordan and Chaney Parker."
