He was born at Bar Harbor June 26, 1928, the son of Alfred B., Sr., and Doris (Linscott) Leighton-Fickett. 'Sonny' was a mason by profession and had worked on many projects within Acadia National Park. He was an avid sportsman and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his mother, Doris Fickett; two daughters, Gloria Leighton and Arlene Leighton; one grandson, Bruce Leighton, Jr. He is survived by his father, Alfred B. Leighton, Sr. of Rockland his stepfather, Ira Fickett of Milbridge; Charlotte L. Leighton of Bar Harbor; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce Leighton of Bar Harbor, Kenneth and Elizabeth (Smith) Leighton of Otter Creek; two daughters and a son-in-law, Geneva Leighton and fiance Mike Jones of Penobscot, Patricia (Leighton) and Fred Hibbard of Bar Harbor; many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews."
