Sheaffer, in Ickesburg, on Saturday evening at 9 o clock The end of his long life came suddenly and peacefully. He would have been 95 years old on the 7th of March. Mr. Rice was the eighth and youngest son of George and Magdalena (Ickes) Rice and was born in 1841. He was the father of nine children, most of whom are living. He was a member of one of the pioneer families of Perry county and was a highly respected citizen. He was elected a Director of the Poor in 1900."
