The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines names 'Rodulfum II et sororem suam Gepam matrem imperatricis Gisile' as children of 'Conradus rex Burgundie' and his wife Mathilde. 'Rodulfus rex et Mathildis soror eius' are named as children of 'Mathilde . . . filia . . . Gerberga' in the Continuator of Flodoard. He succeeded his father in 993 as Rudolf III King of Burgundy. Wishing to create a nobility without dynastic aspirations, he created an ecclesiastical aristocracy, investing the Archbishop of Tarentaise with the county of Tarentaise in 996, the Bishop of Lausanne with the county of Vaud, the Bishop of Sion with the county of Valais in 999, and the Archbishop of Vienne with the county of Vienne in 1023. 'Herimannus' records the death in 1032 of 'Roudolfus, ignavus Burgundiæ regulus' and succession of Emperor Konrad II to the kingdom of Burgundy. On his death, he bequeathed the kingdom of Burgundy to Emperor Konrad II, husband of his niece Gisela of Swabia, although this was challenged by another nephew Eudes II Comte de Blois.

'Rodolfus . . . rex' gave 'sponsæ meæ Irmingardi' the town and county of Vienne by charter dated 24 Apr 1011. 'Rodolfus . . . rex' names 'Irmingarda regina coniuge nostra' in a charter dated 28 Jul 1011. The 'Chronicon Hugonis' names 'Ermengardis' as wife of 'Rodulfus rex', specifying that she was childless, but does not give her origin. 'Rodulfus rex' names 'Irmingarda coniuge mea' in a charter dated 14 Jan 1029. A possible indication of her origin is provided by the charter of 'Ermengart regina' dated 1033 for the soul of 'Rodulfi regis' under which she donated land 'in pago Genevense' to Cluny, although it is impossible to confirm any relationship with the families of the Counts of Geneva whose earliest attested male progenitor is Gerold Count of Geneva who, if related to Ermengarde, would have belonged to a subsequent generation. 'Ermengardis regina' donated property ' . . . loco sepulture patris mei [et] . . . in villa Jalzinium' to Saint-André-de-Bas at Vienne 'pro redemptione animis senioris mei Radulfi regis' by an undated charter. 'Ermengarda vidua regina, uxor quondam Rodulfi regis' made a donation by charter dated 20 Sep 1057. The necrology of Savigny records the death 'VIII Kal Sep' of 'Ermengardis regina Vienne que dedit Tallueriensem'."

[9734] John enlisted 23 Feb 1864 in the Union Army as a Private and was transfered to reserve status 11 March 1865. The 1880 federal census lists John and his family in Saville Twp., Perry Co., PA. "The Perry County Democrat, 29 August 1900," p. 3: "John Hollenbaugh died at his residence in Saville township on Tuesday of dropsy. He had been blind for some years. Interment in the Methodist cemetery at Bixler on Friday, four brothers of this family have died in a little over four years time. Daniel died in the hospital at Pittsburg a little over a year ago while on his way home from Ohio. Two brothers survive : William C, of Kistler, and J. T. Hollenbaugh, of this place."
[307] Enoch was killed "in his own door" by Indians. He resided on the Eastern Branch of Spruce Creek, Kittery, in a garrison house. In 1693 he made his will "being aged and weak in body." The Indian attack which killed him resulted in the capture of his wife and her being taken to Quebec. Enoch was a kinsman of Hugh Hutchins - see "Hugh Hutchins of Old England," Jack R. Hutchins & Richard J. Hutchings (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1984) and Jack R. Hutchins, "Robert Hutchins of Colonial America" (1992). Jack R. Hutchins also authored "Robert Hutchins of Colonial America" (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1992) in which he states (pp. 6-7): "Enoch Hutchins was the progenitor of the large Hutchings - Hutchins family of York, Maine. The first record of Enoch Hutchins is when he was transported to Maryland prior to June 1652 by William Ayres, a gentleman from Nansemond County, Virginia. Mr. Ayres came to Maryland in May 1651 and it was probably at that time that Enoch arrived. On 15 February 1655 Enoch Hutchinson was one of 45 people transported to Virginia, probably from the eastern shore of Maryland, by William Wright, gentleman, of Nancemond [sic] County. Enoch probably completed his seven years service and then left Virginia to go to an area populated by his countrymen. The first record of him in New England was in 1659 when it was noted in Savage's records of New England, from an unknown source, that the goods of Enoch were taken to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, by a John Hutchins. It would seem logical that the John Hutchins who took Enoch's goods to Portsmouth was the same John Hutchins of Haverhill who on 2 December 1659 signed a contract to construct the Portsmouth meeting house. Enoch Hutchings married Mary B. Stevenson of Dover in Dover, New Hampshire, on 5 April 1667. She was born in 1651 the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Stevenson of Oyster River, Durham, New Hampshire. In April 1696 an unknown Nathaniel Hutchins was listed in the militia of Oyster River. Enoch and John Hutchins settled at Spruce Creek, Kittery, Maine, in 1667. He built a garrison house and lived there the rest of his life. Enoch made his will on 7 June 1693 and Historian Niles called him an old man in his report of the Indian attack on Kittery when Enoch was killed and three of his sons taken captive to Canada on 9 May 1698. The son Benjamin returned from Canada before 29 May 1701. Samuel returned in January 1699 and Jonathan returned in 1705. The large Hutchings - Hutchins family of Kittery and York are descendants of Enoch." A map showing his property is on p. 64 of "Old Kittery and Her Families," Everett S. Stackpole (Lewiston, ME: 1903). The surname is a diminuitive of Hugo, and is from the French. It is found largely in the southwest of England. Born Dec. 22, 1944, in Portland, the son of Rachel F. (Eaton) and Alton A. Kane. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Sandra R. (Stockbridge) Kane, for 52 years when she passed in 2015. Predeceased by brother Alvah V. Kane. Survived by daughters Charlotte Kane of Rumford, Cindy and Crystal Kane of Brooklin. Grandchildren Casey and husband, Christopher Robinson, of Albany Township. Skylar Kane and fiancé Corey Stanhope of Veazie, Nicolette Kline of Harrisonburg, Va., Duncan Kane of Bangor and Riley Kane of Old Town. Great-grandchildren Erik Bishop III, Damian and Kaiden Robinson, Julian and Adrian Murray as well as several nieces and nephews. Carroll attended Brooklin schools. During his lifetime he hauled lobsters, dug clams and bloodworms, scalloped, deep-sea fished, worked construction and carpentry, hauled wood and co-owned AKCO business with Andy Andrews of Brooklin, as well as owned and operated Four Cs Adirondack Chairs for over 20 years. Carroll was a pillar of the Brooklin community, dedicating many years as constable, clam constable, member of the Shellfish Conservation Committee, forest fire warden, and Brooklin Volunteer Fire Department chief from 1979 to 1987. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown. The Rev. Abram Rhoads, Evangelical Congregational pastor of Pitman, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Cemetery, Pitman."
